I knew I had been in a slump for what seemed like forever, exhausted and working two jobs, challenges with being a single mom after divorce and feeling left behind and left out looking at other friends posts of their fabulous vacations, new homes, new cars, and new babies while I felt like I was barely making it, recycling cans and buying my clothes and dishes at thrift stores and garage sales.

Not that there is anything wrong with this, (I actually love going to thrift stores and garage sales) but I have to admit I felt jealous and a little bitter when I looked through others social media posts and compared my life to theirs.

And my negativity spilled out into every aspect of my life. I was little Miss Debbie Downer.

Well, yearly review time came at work and I knew I worked hard and had made my desire known that I felt I was deserving of a promotion.

So, I was thrilled when my boss called me and gave me a good review.

But then she said “If I could just offer you some feedback.”

And just like that the wind was knocked out of my sails. I could just feel what was coming next was going to be something I did not want to hear.

Well, it seemed like my negativity about myself and my beliefs in my capabilities of not being able to handle my transition into my new role had made its way back to my supervisor’s ears.

For lack of a better term “ugh.”

And although she stated she believed in me, I needed to believe in myself and I needed to start acting like I was capable of handling my new position because she knew I could.

And just like that it “clicked” in my mind.

I was actually limiting myself. I had almost stopped myself from going any farther in my company because of my UNBELIEF and NEGATIVITY.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.

You know what I came to realize? If you don’t believe in yourself, who will? I was fortunate to have a boss that was able to see something in me that I was not able to see, but how often does that happen?

That was the wake up call I needed.

I have been truly grateful for those trips to the thrift store and all the surprises I was able to find there, and the kind lady that I met who let me pick the lemons off her tree for free so I was able to make my son that delicious cold lemonade, and for the lady who gave me a leather planner with the Bible scriptures already inside that seemed like they were there just for me.

Psalm 139:14 I will give thanks to You, because I am awesomely and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.

Philippians 4:12-13

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

You are unique and God made all of us with different talents and gifts. Just because your life may look different than another’s doesn’t mean it’s not good. Don’t waste your time being bitter because you don’t have everything you think you need. Be thankful for the trials, can you thank Him in the midst of trials? I know, it’s tough.

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.

Now when that co-worker asks “How are you doing?” I answer “I am doing GREAT.”

Because I am doing great with an Awesome Father.

And I know you are too, because I believe in you, even if you don’t believe in yourself yet.

What Is Your Destiny?

It has never been said that saying “yes” to God would be easy and in fact often times there will be those that come against the very thing we believe God has called us to.

Saying yes to God is truly the best decision I have ever made, continually saying “yes” to God, now that keeps this ride one amazing adventure. Scripture talks about being predestined (Romans 8) and as we study the bible we find stories of God’s people fulfilling a calling that God placed on them. For example, look at the beautiful story of an orphaned girl named Esther.

The story of Esther that can be found in the Old Testament of the Bible is a beautiful example of how God will use us if we will just say “yes” to Him. Esther was a Jewish girl that lost her parents and was raised by her Uncle Mordecai. As we watch Esther’s story unfold we see that sheis eventually and strategically placed in a position to compete for the title of Queen of Persia, which she ultimately is selected to fill. Now we would think being selected as Queen of Persia life would be smooth sailing however, as Esther takes her position as the wife of King Xerxes, the enemy, which we know never sleeps, is plotting the demise of the Jewish people, her people.

It has never been said that saying “yes” to God would be easy and in fact often times there will be those that come against the very thing we believe God has called us to. However, if we close our ears to the voice of the enemy and continue to follow the voice of the Lord we will always see His victory.

What is your destiny? What is it that God has placed before you to accomplish?

Haman, one of the king’s trusted advisors, was that person in Esther’s life, boy was he something else. Haman created a decree with the approval of the King that was designed to have all the Jews in the kingdom murdered.Esther, unaware of the situation is summoned by her Uncle Mordecai and is directed to intercede on behalf of her people, the Jews.

Mordecai utters these life changing words to Esther. “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?”(Esther 4:14). Talk about a life shaking moment in time that I am sure Esther never forgot. See Esther had a choice just like you and I do, thankfully she chose to take a stand for her people which ultimately ended with the King ordering Haman’s death. She saved the Jewish people, fulfilled her destiny and found her place in history as we read about her in scripture.

What is your destiny? What is it that God has placed before you to accomplish? He has purposed you and predestined you and definitely has a plan for you (Romans 8:28-30, Jeremiah 29:11). Have you come to this place for such a time as this? Have you found yourself even on this website for such a time as this? Have you come across Seeking God Ministries Mentorship course for such a time as this? God has created a story for you even before you were born. I would like to challenge you to take time, talk to the Lord, ask Him what direction it is He would like you to go and then GO. Do not waste one moment. Heed to His voice, He will never misguide you.
